KAELY PHELPS THERAPY

Frequently Asked Questions
Here to help answer your questions before getting started.
How do I schedule an appointment?
I offer a complementary 15 minute consultation call to get started. We will discuss your goals and preferences for therapy and I will share more about my approach to determine if we'll be a good fit together. If you would like to proceed, I'll be happy to schedule recurring sessions with you directly from there.
Where are session held?
Sessions can be held either in person or by secure video link. I work from a coworking therapy space in North West London, NW6.
How long are sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes long. Specialized services like couples, exposure and response prevention, and EMDR sessions are 50 minutes.
What is your cancellation policy?
I kindly request at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a confirmed appointment. Outside of this window, there is no fee to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations and reschedules within 48 hours will be charged in full. Thank you for understanding and respecting the time that has been reserved especially for you.
What are your fees?
Fees for individual therapy sessions are 150 pounds. Specialized services like couples therapy, EMDR, and exposure and response therapy are charged at 225 pounds.
I believe everyone deserves access to quality mental health care. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for students, trainees, and those experiencing financial hardship. If cost is a concern, please don't hesitate to bring this up when we first connect - we can explore what might be possible.
How long does therapy take?
The length of therapy varies significantly depending on your unique goals, concerns, and circumstances.

For specific interventions like EMDR (trauma processing) or ERP (anxiety treatment), we might work together for a focused period of 8-12 weeks or longer. However, my approach often involves open-ended, long-term therapy where we work together at a pace that feels right for you. Some clients find what they need in a few months, while others benefit from ongoing support as they navigate life transitions, deepen self-understanding, or work through complex relational patterns.

We'll regularly check in about your progress and goals, and you're always in control of when therapy feels complete for you.
Do you work with American or UK clients?
I enjoy working with both! I am licensed to treat clients based in New York State in America. Unfortunately, I am unable to treat clients based in other American states. I am a registered trainee with UKCP in the UK and am qualified to treat clients across the UK. If you are an international client from another country, our ability to work together will depend on your countries local regulations for psychotherapy - I'm happy to explore if working together is a possibility.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, everything that we discuss in therapy, including your participation in therapy, is strictly confidential. There are a few important legal exceptions: if there's risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable individuals, or if records are subpoenaed by a court. If you are under 18, I'll discuss confidentiality limits with you and your parent/guardian to balance privacy with appropriate parental involvement.
I adhere to both UK (UKCP) and US (ASWB/HIPAA) confidentiality standards.
What if I experience a mental health crisis?
If you're experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact emergency services immediately and go to your nearest emergency department.
UK: Call 999 (emergency), 111 (NHS crisis line), or Samaritans at 116 123 (24/7)
US: Call 911 (emergency) or 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)
I cannot provide crisis support between sessions, but we can work together to create a safety plan as part of our ongoing therapy.
